Craps Payouts Explained
It is important to understand how craps payouts work, so you know what to expect when you play the game. There are also some terms you will also need to know to understand the payouts better. We will start with the term craps payouts itself. It means that it is the cash that you will get when your bet wins. For example, if a bet pays out 1/1 and you had bet $5, you will get $5 when you win together with the money you used to bet.
Here are the other terms that you need to know:
- Craps true odds – this is the calculated odds when you lose or win based on the bet you placed. What’s more, the money you used to bet with will not affect the odds, but the amount of the bet influences the payouts
- House edge – it shows the possibility the house has to win the bet.
How to Calculate Payouts
To calculate the payouts, you will have to use the payout odds and your wager. You should not use the true odds. If you are a beginner, it is easier to calculate the odds in units. For example, if the craps odds payouts for landing a four is 9:5, it means you will be paid $9 for every $5 bet you win.

Best and Worst Craps Bets
If you are a beginner, the bet to always remember is the pass line bet. You can place this bet because it has the lowest house edge and the highest odds of landing. It is also the starting bet on all crap games. It is also the best bet because it has payouts of 1 to 1.
They don’t pass bet has a lower house edge than the pass line bet at 1.36%. However, it is known that 7 has a higher chance of landing compared to 2 or 3, which makes the odds of winning the bet is lower.
The worst odds are the numbers that are less likely to land and have the highest house edge. However, they have the biggest payouts. An example of this is if you land two 1s. This has a payout of 30:1 with a chance of landing at 1 in 36, and the house edge is at 13.9%. So, which means that even if you land this bet, you will lose more of your winnings to the house edge.
