Global Poker Review & Rating

Since launching in 2017, Global Poker has grown to become one of the hottest online poker rooms in the North American market. It’s difficult to find a poker site that accepts US players, so when you do that’s an immediate notch on the pro column.
However, just because a site accepts US players doesn’t make it automatically worthwhile to play at. After all, that is only what qualifies a casino or gambling site for a review by our expert team of players here at BestUSAOnlineCasinos.com.
So, we put Global Poker review through the motions to see whether it is a poker site you should invest your time and money in. Read on below to find out what we think of this continually rising poker site.
Banking Options
We don’t usually start our reviews with the banking section first, but banking at Global Poker is weird and we’ll explain why in a bit.
Firstly, you can make deposits using the following banking options:
- American Express (if AMEX is your primary banking method, rejoice because we have found a unicorn).
- MasterCard
- Visa
- Skrill
Secondly, it takes Global Poker 48 hours to process a withdrawal request, provided that your account has been verified. Thereafter, the amount of time it takes the cash to reflect in your account depends on your bank. But, on average, it’s about five days.
Down to the weird part of banking at Global Poker, the gambling site makes use of a currency called Gold Coins. To play for real money, you need to purchase Gold Coins and we don’t really like that. It makes the whole gambling experience seem slightly and unnecessarily more complicated.
For example, is 12, 000 Gold Coins equivalent to $12,000? If so, why is there any need to have an in-site currency in the first place?
As far as we understand it, we think the main purpose of the currency is to get players to spend on more than just poker games. After all, you can buy virtual items to customize your account with Gold Coins. And, we guess some people are into that sort of thing. (We aren’t though).
Casino Bonus and Promotions
Global Poker doesn’t offer traditional bonuses and promotions. Sure, there is a no deposit offer when you sign up and lots of free daily bonuses but there is nothing in line with the traditional bonuses you would usually see at casinos.
This is due to the Gold Coin currency used at the site, which makes the gambling experience more akin to playing a mobile game than playing casino games online. For example, there are daily login Gold Coin bonuses. Then, there are challenges you need to meet to earn more Gold Coins and separate cash prizes.
Global Poker tries to make up for their lack of traditional bonuses by running tournaments and sweepstakes regularly. Some of these tournaments have their own unique coins, which can get a little confusing.
Overall, we think that the whole “Coin” system is going to either be a hit or miss with you. As such, we think that you’ll either feel that there is something missing with the bonus offers or you will love the experience.
Global Poker Games
With a name like Global Poker, you wouldn’t be wrong in assuming that this gambling site only offers you the chance to play poker games. Generally, there’s nothing wrong with that. Sometimes, an internet casino that specializes in one game offers you a wider variety of options in that particular game than a casino that offers all games.
However, this isn’t the case with Global Poker. Look, there are hundreds of poker games available. We know that no site could ever offer them all. But we do expect a site that specializes in one game to offer more than five variations, which include:
- No-limit Texas Hold’em
- Pot-limit Omaha
- Fixed limit Texas Hold’em
- No-limit Crazy Pineapple
- Caribbean Stud Poker
It seems like this has proved to be an issue for Global Poker because they recently started adding other casino games to their catalog. But don’t expect to be wowed by the list of options; at the time of writing, there are a handful of slots and blackjack games available. This will probably change in the future though.
The one saving grace of the game situation at Global Poker is that the site frequently runs tournaments. Attendance at these tournaments is usually pretty low, so there is ample opportunity to pick up some wins if you are a player slightly towards the end of the Bell curve.
Global Poker Mobile
Global Poker has been optimized for mobile. It is easily accessible on your smartphone or tablet through a web browser, similar to the way that you can access the site on Windows PCs and Mac devices.
So, if you’re always on the move, rest assured that Global Poker is only a few taps away on your mobile device if it runs iOS or Android at least.
Customer Support
Like most casinos, Global Poker has got a customer support team that is available 24/7/365. There is one way in which you can get in contact with the team, including:
Outside of this, the staff at Global Poker have created a pretty extensive FAQ page. It’s got answers to a lot of questions, so we suggest that you check if your query is answered there before contacting the customer support team.
We are disappointed to see that there isn’t a live chat feature. Most modern casinos offer this option, so it’s definitely a negative on the side of Global Poker.
Casino Safety
Global Poker is safe to use. It is registered and regulated by trusted gambling authorities. It also uses SSL encryption to ensure that all the information you share with the casino is kept safe. So, at the very least, gambling at Global Poker is a safe affair.
Global Poker Rating
We found Global Poker to be a bit of a disappointing poker room. With all of the buzz around it, we thought it would offer players a little more. Also, we weren’t a fan of the Gold Coin system and expected the gambling site to offer a few more variations of poker.
Aside from all of that, Global Poker still offers players a solid gambling experience. You can play both free and real money games at the internet casino.
And they pay you out in a good timeframe. It is for these reasons we have decided to rate Global Poker three out of five. They’re not bad but they’re not great either.
